A large round aneroid barometer with FitzRoy inspired dial. The simple solid beech turned case spray polished a light brown finish. An excelent good large barometer for home or office - very suitable presentation piece, unique to us. Whilst the case is not up to our hand turned and French polished models we sometimes make at Merton, neither is the price! It has the same double capsule temperature compensated movement, and also a glass front and brass bezel. Dial is in inches and so ideal for people with interest in history as well as pressure. Clear dial makes it good for some visually impared as well. Good value when comparing size for cost, bigger the dial the more movement is seen on the needle.
This is a serious barometer, we have even sold some to the Met Office, so included FREE with this item is a copy of Ron Lobeck book ' The Barometer your home weather forecaster' which explains about how to use and understand what the barometer is telling you, the only book we have found that explains so much about weather forecasting and air pressure (read from a barometer) our standard simplified instructions booklet also included to get you started.

An extra large dial stainless steel cased barometer, the dial measures 175 mm and has a domed glass front. A very contemporary barometer in frosted glass mount, colour of the wall shows through so position is key (our blue wall not ideal!) Also has a curved blue spirit filled thermometer in F & C. The movement is not temperature compensated so is not a serious barometer but will show trends. OK so we bought it to try but it is rather modern for most of our customers - looking for a suitable home.
