Click for larger image | Hand Made mahogany stick barometer (c1830 style) Ref: 127 Dimensions: 975mm tallWeight:
This traditional design of stick barometer has a solid mahogany frame with a single line of boxwood stringing either side of the tube, a quarter astragal moulding down the trunk and around the base. The detailed decoratively turned cistern cover is copied from an original of this period, each barometer individually assembled. The register plates are made from brass, silvered by hand with a manually operated vernier behind a glazed mahogany door with boxwood stringing to edge. The hand blown thermometer with a large bulb is typical of these provincial type stick barometers of the 1830s. The swan neck pediment has hand carved ebonised scrolls and is mounted with cast finial made from an original pattern. SOLD OUT - unlikley to make more unless EU change their minds over banning sale of new mercury barometers or we can get around it legally.

Click for larger image | Hand Made mahogany stick barometer with chequered inlay (c1830) Ref: 128 Dimensions: 975mm tallWeight: Price: £894.94 ($1,754.08) Including VAT at 17.5%
This is similar to the above with, chevron inlay; the swan neck pediment is mounted with ivory pateraes (made from recycled ivory), the door and the trunk with black and white chevron and boxwood line inlay. The cistern cover has a single band of chequered chevron inlay and an inner turned circle of boxwood to traditional Georgian design. The silvered register plates also have a manually operated vernier using a small knurled knob. The cases of both these stick barometers are shellac polished and hand finished in the traditional way. Each barometer is labelled and numbered on the back with the cabinetmaker's name and individually signed by Philip Collins on inspection. They are a classic style that will always look good. SOLD OUT
