Making A Purchase Making a purchase could be easier but bank rules mean we now have to use gateway payment providers! it is called progress - sorry but you can still post cheques to us - best to e-mail your enquiry first. Otherwise just browse our Catalog, and click on any items that you wish to buy and put them into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, process checkout etc, and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to satisfy the order. Then you can go to World Pay.

Prices - We reserve the right to amend the prices of any goods whenever necessary without notice (although we will endeavour to hold prices as we have over past years) inevitably prices will rise but we have also introduced price reductions on some lines. Due to admin costs small orders under £20 net may not be accepted.

We do NOT sell thermometers without the scale unless we have seen details of the scale it is to fit as this has in the past led to some disappointment. Do contact us first if you have a requirement of a thermometer. PLEASE do NOT send any item to us without contacting us first to agree and be issued with a parcel number.

We accept credit card payment by phone or fax and letter normally. Please note there is extra carriage charges if outside UK, often these are 20% of order value and will be added, if heavy or large item when price may be more than 20% we will advise by e-mail first.

We accept Visa and Mastercard. You may send your credit card information via phone, fax, snail mail.

Title of goods remain with us until payment is received in full.
Liability - on no account will we be held liable for any damage, risk or injury to persons or property how or whensoever caused.
Descriptions - are for identification and may not be definitive. In most cases sizes are approxamate, if accuracy required then contact us before ordering.

Insurance - Whilst risk passes to the purchaser upon payment we will continue to ensure the very best of packing and care is taken on all orders. Nevertheless, any breakages, shortages, errors, damage, etc., should be advised to us as soon as practical after receipt and no longer than 24 hours. Whilst we will endeavour to correct any faults this will be purely on a 'goodwill' basis and will be totally without prejudice or admission of error on our part. We will not be held responsible in any way.
Receipt of Goods - All customers are advised to inspect goods on arrival and inform us of any failings. On no account should any consignment be signed for as received in good condition without checking and if so done we reinforce our declaration that risk lays with the purchaser. If damage has occured to the outside package then we advise the nature of the damage to the external package should be clearly marked on receipt of goods and signed as unexamined. All packaging materials should be retained in case of loss.

Prices - No prices given verbally or in writing will be guaranteed to be held by us unless the words 'Fixed Quotation' is stated by us and signed by the proprietor. Any such fixed quotations will only be valid for 30 days or less as stated.
Interest - We reserve the right to charge defaulting or late payment customers 3% over normal bank unauthorized borrowing rate as issued by our bankers, per month or part thereof, plus storage charges as appropriate but with a minimal of £5 per month.
Goods left in trust - Any items left with us for repair, examination, consideration, are done so entirely at the owner's risk. Whilst every effort will normally be maintained to ensure no losses will be sustained this will be purely without prejudice. Any invitation for insurance values whilst left with us are deemed to be a goodwill practice by ourselves without prejudice in any way, shape or form. Any claim upon ourselves will likely be only entertained as a goodwill basis without prejudice or admission of any fault or liability on our part. In any circumstance whatsoever, through any damage arising, the first possible claim and responsibility lays with the owner. Any secondary claim that may be considered, as aforesaid as a goodwill nature, will only be subject to there being no other insurance in force by the owner or persons liable. Any goods or items left with us without instructions for a period in excess of twelve months are deemed to be abandoned and are likely to be sold, disposed of, to cover any charges for storage, administration, etc. Any items left beyond 2 years with us are deemed to be forfeited in their entirety and we reserve the right to dispose of them as we think fit. Any items left with us beyond 3 years in length are deemed to be gifted entirely as they are, totally for our disposable and used in any way, shape or form that we desire and no circumstance can the persons owning or responsible for the items have any future claim, title or hold on any such goods. Where expense is incurred storing, insuring, restoration and any other means this will deem to be the responsibility of the owner or responsible person and we reserve the right to reclaim such expenses plus interest as aforementioned and all other charges from the said person or persons as owners or responsible for the items.
Shipping And Handling Delivery is not generally included on UK orders, Overseas orders are subject to carriage costs according to costs of sending and packing and handling, normally at a default charge but you will be e-mailed if there needs to be any extra costs. Method of delivery will be at our discretion - normally by carrier, sometimes 1st class post or parcel post as we think appropriate. For overseas we often use air mail small packet service but can vary according to items ordered. We regreatably find we need to charge a handling fee for North American orders which will normally be within the postage costs. If you wish your order to be sent by a particular method this may entail additional cost. Please enquire if necessary.
Delivery Schedule: We deliver your order as soon as practical, we may need to assemble or make certain parts and if a longer delay is possible will e-mail you.. We will normally send your order to you in 3 business days . International orders are generally received in under 12 days but will depend on where and method of carriage. Please remember carriage costs for orders outside UK are likely to be an extra 20% of order value (very approx). The risk in transit is the purchases we can not be held liable for none delivery by a delivery agent - if requested we may be able to arrange insurance and will assit in any claim as far as reasonable on the purchasers behalf - be informed it is your (the purchasers) responsibilty and any work we do is as a matter of good will and not obligotory and without prejudice - but we do want satisfaied customers so on the rare occasisons we have looked into late or lost parcels - seldom happens but can.
Back Orders If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
Tax Charges For orders made from the UK or the European Union, 20% VAT is added. All other orders are VAT free if delivered outside EU. However we usually charge 20% carriage for USA and other overseas customers to cover additional cost of carriage. If more then we will advise by e-mail.
Credit Card Security we are no longer allowed to hold card details by our web sites so have to use Gateway companys like World Pay, we will continue to monitor this and vary who we use according to which we think are the least worst to deal with. You can send card details to us by fax when we are open (if we have remembered to turn it on of course!) or by phone or letter.
Guarantee Any product incorrectly supplied or faulty will be replaced, please contact us BEFORE returning in order to obtain a returns parcel number - we no longer accept parcels unless pre booked with us due to people sending unwanted items including mercury to us!. Products are sold often unfinished and will require fettling to suit individual requirements.

Cookies are used on this shopping site to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart once you have selected an item, to store delivery addresses if the address book is used and to store your details if you select the 'Remember Me' Option.
Returns Policy We want to supply you with the best most suitable goods first time - so ask us if in any doubt - we are here to offer advise where needed but if not asked we can not be at fault when incorrect items are ordered - e-mail us before ordering any item you are not sure about. On the rare occasions that our products are faulty or incorrectly supplied (yes we are human and make some mistakes) we offer a full refund or exchange. Please telephone before returning any item to obtain a return booking number as we will not normally accept a parcel unless pre booked.
Where you are buying as an individual ( for yourself rather than for a business) you have the right to cancel within seven days of your contract with us, or seven days of receipt of the goods (whichever is the longer). If you cancel your order within these times due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered parts or items you will have payment returned less any delivery cost incurred by us when sending to you originally and transaction charges by merchant servcies/banks/PayPal/WorldPay etc (unless faulty or incorrectly supplied) Should you wish to return an order under these regulations then due to the nature of our business we insist you contact us first for a returns booking number which must be displayed clearly on the outside of the packet so we know what it is. This is soley due to the fact that we have had to reject parcels etc not pre booked as some sensless people have sent us leaking mercury items in the past and has been a health and safety issue for us at Barometer World. The statutory time to cancel will be taken as the time when you first contact us about a possible return and we will not refuse a refund once that contact has been made if it fulfills the requirements above provided first contact was within the statutory time frame, but we will wish to try arrange suitable alternatives or days for return as we are not here 7 days a week. We reserve the right to not accept a part cancellation of an order due to our minimum order requirements and costs but will look at each request individually and help where possible. We do not expect to get returns as we have tried hard over many years to supply suitable items for people to use and built up a high degree of expertise here at Barometer World. We do expect customers that are thinking of ordering an item to check with us in advance if they are unceratin of suitabilty or size etc. Often sending an e-mail to us with suitable title and attaching a normal single picture (under 1mb) of the item needing parts etc. We have many useful help hints for customers not used to ordering but do not offer detailed advice about restoration, instead Philip Collins our director has written a number of books over several years that cover some restoration details aimed at the proffesional but useful to most able craftsmen (and women) - Restoration of barometers is a highly skilled proffession and should not be undertaken by non skilled un knowledgable persons - if in doubt consult a good proffesional barometer restorer - if you canfind one of course! EU seem to want us all to go out of business..
There are variations to these rules where we are supplying services or making customised goods - an order for any non standard item which we make specially for you will not be returnable unless faulty or incorrect.
